Euro Training Camp Italy April 2008
Euro Training Camp shows growth of Class in Italy - 12-13 April 2008
The Open BIC Euro Training Camp showed the ongoing growth of the Class in Italy with up to 25 competitors from all over the country: ANS, Lago Iseo, Sulzano; Fraglia della Vela, Desenzano; Lega Nega Navale Sez. Ostia and also some participants from Genoa and Milan. Each of the young participants were keen to get some training in before the first Italian Cup event to be held at the Trofeo Accademia Navale, Livorno, 25-26 April 08
While the plan was to practice the different event formats and cross wind starts anticipated at the first Italian O'pen Cup, unfortunately the weather meant that the training camp was more orientated towards practising sailing the boat in two extremes of conditions! The first day presented the competitors with up to 20 knots of wind and a 1m swell, and the second day bright sunshine with less than 5 knots!
Many congratulations go out to all the participants of this event who braved the wind and cold on the first day to go sailing. While the bigger more experienced kids definitely had a good time with the planing qualities of the O'pen BIC... for some of the smaller ones it was a bit of a challenge that will surely put them in a good position for the future!
Many thanks to the CNAM Alassio for their hospitality during this event. We are sure that we will see more O'pen BIC events there in the future!
