Information on the 2010 World Cup

The dates and location of the 2010 O’pen BIC World Cup have now been finalised.
The biggest international O’pen BIC event of the year will be held in Martinique from
26th to 30th December 2010. Tropical conditions, trade winds and coconut trees;
an ideal background for a festive O’pen BIC gathering!

The racing will take place from the Yacht Club "Le Neptune", in the Bay of Fort de France in Anse Mitan, and will be organised by the Ligue de Voile, Martinique (FFV - Fédération Française de Voile).

PROGRAM

Sunday 26 December : Latest possible arrival and transfer to the hotels
Monday 27 December : Training and registration
Tuesday 28 December : Racing
Wednesday 29 December : Racing
Thrusday 30 December : Racing followed by lunch and prize-giving ceremony

On a practical side, we strongly recommend that you book your trip very quickly as flights to the Caribbean can get booked out very quickly at this time of the year.

Please note that these agencies offer competitive prices on full package deals
(flight + hotel), but less so on flights only.

For those of you who wish to organise your own travel arrangements, via the internet for example, please note that :
- From Europe, 3 airlines fly to Martinique : Air France, Air Caraïbes & Corsair.
- Prices will largely depend on the date of your return flight, with the 1st January 2011 being the most expensive due to its popularity. If you can return either before or after the 1st January 2011, the price of your ticket can be cheaper by up to 40%.

 

 

ACCOMMODATION

There are several options : hotel, rent of appartment or house, or camping.
We advise you to look for accommodation around Pointe du Bout (see map).

1/ Hotel
There are several seaside hotels to choose from. If you choose this option,
we’d advise you to book via one of our two agencies who have special deals
for the O’pen BIC event.

Several hotels have already been contacted for quotes, and they are :
Bambou Hôtel, Carayou, Impératrice Village, La Pagerie, Hotel Bakoua,
Résidence Karibéa Camelia, Résidence Village Créole.

 

2/Furnished accommodation
This is an interesting solution to help keep costs down, for those travelling in a group together. Please note that the Martinique Committee has a list of furnished approved accommodation available during and after the competition, where they have negotiated special rental deals, for the competitors and those travelling with them.

REGISTRATION / CHARTER BOATS

The entry form can be downloaded from the link below, and will be published on our Class Website together with the above event information. The entry deadline to confirm your participation in this event is 1st NOVEMBER 2010.

Given the «exotic» location of this event, we want to make participation as easy as possible for all competitors. Charter boats will therefore be available to hire on site for all International Competitors. Further details are available in the attached entry-form.
