German O'pen BIC Cup, 15/16 May 2010

Marc Woitschöll, the overall winner of last year's German O'pen BIC season, won the first O'pen BIC Cup of this season in Germany.

From 15th to 16th May 2010, the O'pen BIC sailors had their first event after the long winter break to battle for victory. The first O'pen BIC cup was held in Surendorf on the Baltic Sea.

From 13th to 14th May 2010, right before the O'pen BIC cup started, the sailors practiced their techniques and tactics during a training camp at the same spot.

Winner of the first O'pen BIC cup was Marc Woitschöll (GER-2443), followed by Patrick Ruess (GER-231, 2nd place) and Jill Paland (GER-3273, 3rd place). On position
four and five came Julian Steincke (GER-3428) and Svenja Andreas.

The extreme weather conditions, cold temperatures and wind up to six Beaufort, didn't make racing easy for the competitors and especially for the young sailors. But they were motivated and hardy and enjoyed sailing in such challenging conditions.
All in all, the competitors had a lot of fun and it was a good event. Thanks go to the Nordwind Wassersport e.V. for the perfect organization, the good catering and the comfortable accommodation in the houses directly at the beach.
